Our story

HISTORY AND REPUTATION OF SAFE MOTHERHOOD EMPOWERMENT AND ENLIGHTENMENT INITIATIVE.

Safe motherhood initiative started as an enlightenment and empowerment initiative aimed at educating pregnant women, their spouses, mentors and caregivers about how to achieve safe pregnancy and safe childbirths. The safe motherhood empowerment and enlightenment initiative, a nongovernmental organization was registered with the corporate affairs commission on 17th of November,2008.

Doing God's Work

SMEEI to teach pregnant women, their spouses and humanity in general issues around childbirth in the language everyone can understand.

Health Education

we decodes medical highfalutin languages to the social language that can be understood by the lay person that is not in the medical field.

Maternal Health

safe motherhood is sent by god to stop the death of pregnant women worldwide, so, to achieve this, everyone needs to understand the risk factors in pregnancy (that is issues that can cause deaths of pregnant women and their babies).

we also set aside a particular day of the week to pray for the pregnant women worldwide

How We Started Safe Motherhood

2007

Began Operation as an NGO

Began Operation as an NGO This NGO started as a response to the call of God on my life and that of my wife, Crystal. The call came on the 19th of October, 2007 during the defense of my project for the Part II fellowship examination of the West African college of surgeons. In other to have a wider reach to the pregnant women we were sent to save their lives, a Television programme was initiated with the Rivers State Television in 2010.

2012

Started Family Outreach Programs

We also started teaching pregnant women and their husbands in groups whereby we also give out educatonal materials and books most times free. By our enlightenment programmes, millions of pregnant women, babies and families have been saved. Majority of traditional birth attendants and other maternity caregivers have benefited from our enlightenment programs by extension ensuring the safety of many pregnant women that go to them for delivery. Due to the knowledge they acquire from our enlightenment programmes, they do not delay to refer out pregnant women to skilled hospitals cases they can not handle like, obstructed labour, cervical dystocia, placenta previa, pregnancy co-habiting with fibroids and uterovaginal prolapse.
